Rev5 TRD2000GT Replica
car as i bought it (1999 white rev5 with approx 53,000 miles and bad bodywork)
the kit i bought was already fitted to a car and all the joins were blended in as was the fuel cap which meant breaking it all apart, removing it and sorting out the join lines later. the good thing about this was it meant that i knew the kit would need minimal work to make fit!
so started removing and fitting panels...
petrol flap... the person who fitted the kit before me blended this into the winge using fibreglass and filler which didnt work well as it was cracking and there was no way of putting petrol in!
then after driving it around for a while to let it all settle i took it to cardiff to have it painted i did the prep work myself under his supervision to save money.
and painted (i also changed the spoiler to one with a carbon blade.... bad decision because fitment is not as good!)
i then fitted these seats but thought they were a bit too lairey so reverted back to the original
right, the alloys! i bought these for it but they needed a refurb
so split them myself, sent the centres to be powdercoated grey and polished the lips myself then built them back up again.
and this is how the car looked.
fitted front and rear strut braces
upgraded the audio a little
got some eibach lowering springs and fitted
and at japshow with genuine trd no. 21

new wheels!!!
Well my new wheels arrived today, I'm yet to fit them to the car which means I'm yet to find out how they actually fit on the car!
Big reveal time..... O.Z. Racing Futuras
These have to be my favourite wheels and so I've been on the lookout for a suitable set for a little while now. I think they should suit the period of the car and being 5 spoke split rims with a polished lip they're not a million miles away from the Alumi-K's so I'm fairly confident they'll suit the style of the car.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think and I'll get some pics up of them on the car just as soon as i get my tyres swapped over!
(sorry for the crappy pics btw)

Re: Rev5 TRD2000GT Replica
Thanks, it'll be a couple days at least before they're fitted though I'm afraid. I'm polishing the bolts up on them in the meantime though (well trying and failing!) which should keep me busy!
Thanks for the offer on the tyres mate but mine should fit for the time being.

Nice wheels although your Volk wheels are nice as well,I used to have OZ saturns on my AW11,look the same type of centre caps to your futuras.your wheels don't look like they have had a lot of use where you find them?

Re: Rev5 TRD2000GT Replica
Finally got them fitted today!
took a little while getting all the bits to fit them through the post. Nuts, locking nuts, spigot rings and new valves because standard ones wouldnt fit.
on the ramps:
and fitted: (the suspension looks a little high in some of these pics, probably hasn't had time to settle all the way down yet)
i love them and its nice not having to run the spacers.
let me know what you all think!!

no electric toothbrush i'm afraid, they still need doing though so may have to invest in one!Admin wrote:leccy toothbrush works a treat and belgom :-)
Thanks. Yeah I had a look and they look like the same ones. Well according to the labels on the side of the wheels they were made in 1995! they've been refurbished fairly recently though which explains the condition and also why the offsets have been lost! I got them off ebay.Stu wrote:Nice wheels although your Volk wheels are nice as well,I used to have OZ saturns on my AW11,look the same type of centre caps to your futuras.your wheels don't look like they have had a lot of use where you find them?

Re: Rev5 TRD2000GT Replica
New wheels look great fitted man, really like them and have never seen those wheels before(never mind on a 2)!
They would look much better if it was lowered a bit more, perhaps some coilovers?

Re: Rev5 TRD2000GT Replica
Thanks. Yeah it was pretty hard to find a set! Yeah a set of coilovers is definately on my wish list but will probably be a while before I can afford a set. The car sits about standard height at the moment and the wheels sit in the arches the same as standard too.

Re: Rev5 TRD2000GT Replica
Thought I'd better update this as I've done a few bits recently.
For chirstmas I got a set of clear lenses for the rear lights... these are not easy to fit! I managed to put a small crack in one of the lenses but it isnt too bad and it's on the black band so not that noticeable either thankfully.
and the bad bit... in my defence these things are bloody brittle!!
<a href="https://s417.photobucket.com/albums/pp255/jack_prosser/?action=view&current=SDC11156.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://2img.net/h/i417.photobucket.com/albums/pp255/jack_prosser/SDC11156.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I also recently sent my glove box off to get retrimmed to match my gear gaitor, huge thanks to Rhon off of mr2oc!
So I stripped my glove box down to this and posted it off
and it came back like this
while I had it all apart I thought I'd attack the lock with some autosol too!
and all finished, again a fiddly job but I'm please with the outcome.
After a year of abuse my calipers were looking a bit worse for wear as the paint had chipped so since I was changing the pads and discs anyway I decided to re-paint. I decided to use wrinkle paint and I'm really happy with the finish (I haven't seen this used on calipers before but I dont see any reson not to).
before
after
And finally, this one is still ongoing however... I bought a Bomex Drift style spoiler
I got this for a bit off a bargain and although I was told that "the paint just needs a bit of a polish" and "all mounting points are present and working" it was a right state when i got it. To be honest I couldnt be happier about it though because it gives me a little project.
Try polishing that out!
I also wanted rid of the arial hole whilst I was at it so set about cutting the tunnel out and smoothing back over then moulding it back in for a better finish:
It then dawned on me while looking at pics of the spiler online that you could see the underside of the hole from the side of the car too!
So my next plan of action was to fill the hole with polystyrene, cut a piece of plastic to size and fibreglass over it all followed with a skin of filler and flatted back down again.
and then I set about filling the pin holes
and this is as far as I've gotten so far, I'm still to sort out the mounting point then its time for some paint

Nice job on the glove box -neat stitching :-)
What brand of paint did you use on the calipers?

Re: Rev5 TRD2000GT Replica
Ah cool - lookslike a nice finish - fancy using some of that on my cam covers :-)
Re: Rev5 TRD2000GT Replica
yeah I'm pleased with the finish, it definately looks better than the regular caliper paint i previously used. My only concern is that dirt may stick to it due to it's rough texture but only time will tell.
It's good stuff and quite easy to use, I'd reccomend.
