With the rear Wing fully assembled and fitted I wasnt entirely satisfied that it sat flush enough - in th epics below you can make out the areas where it doesnt quite make contact with the boot/trunk lid.

Mark around each support so you know roughly where the wing joins the boot/trunk.

With the wing removed use parcel tape to tape over the contact area to act as a barrier

Using a pencil or craft knife pop the holes so the bolts will still go through

I taped off the middle hole and then loaded up the bottom of the wing support with filler ready to refit the spoiler - a bit like laying a tile on a wall

Refit the wing then bolt back down (might need a friend to help with this since it now has filler on) and the filler should be pushed out as you bolt it down. ** IMPORTANT ** Dont do this without the full wing assembled otherwise as its the wing being assembled which often makes the support not sit flush.

Once the filler has hardened you can remove the wing and you should be left with a wing support that matches the profile of your boot/trunk lid exactly

The parcel tape will leave a bit of a mess but white spirit will bring it off - alternatively use blue 3M masking tape but be warned this is thicker than the parcel tape so can leave edges in the filler.

I used a small battery sander to scult the rounded edge back

You should be left with a perfectly fitting part with a tolerance of less than 1mm :-)

Needs a bit more shaping to the front leading edge but you get the idea.

this works very well. i did this on my original spoiler and it worked perfectly, looked like a factory fit... then decided to buy another spoiler with a carbon blade at the last minute, didnt have time to do this before paint and now doesnt look so good, bugger! thanks for the useful tip

DOH!!!! :-(

Never mind - sure it still looks very nice. Try and get some pics of your car getting painted and post them up.

This technique also works for getting the wings etc all to fit exactly too so tolerance on gap is the thickness of parcel tape :-)
